Driver's License Test

Hello! This past Wednesday was going to be the best day of my life. I going to take my driver's license test and I was going to ace it and be able to drive wherever I want, whenever I want (except for the California laws against new drivers), make plans with friends and drive myself there! It was going to be great! So, my and my mom got to the DMV, did the boring stuff, and soon enough I was in the car alone, waiting for my tester. When I saw the man who was going to be testing my driving skills, I couldn't believe it was real life. I had been waiting 16 years for this day to come, and there it was, seconds in front of me! The man came up to the driver's window and said, "Give me your permit." I was appalled by how rude he was; no hello! So I did what he asked and then he started looking my car (well, my dad's car, a Prius). The next thing I know is the man is handing a shattered piece of glass. He said, "Did you know your car is broken?" I couldn't believe it! First of all, someone hit my dad's car a couple years and a small piece of glass broke off but nothing more, so when he hands me this piece of glass, all I could think was, 'Why would he rip off a piece of a car, it's none of his business to be doing that!' I let that slide because I'm not very confrontational. He then continued with the test, asking me hand signals and parts of the car. Then he got in the car and told me to exit the DMV and then turn left. So, I did, and followed his directions. After driving through the residential area, I came to light and he told me to turn right. Since it was a red light and there was no sign saying a couldn't turn right AND there was no cars coming, I turned right safely. Once I was in my lane, I got up to the speed limit (40 MPH) and then, out of no where, a car honked at me and sped by, leaving me in the dust. Then the other car sped ahead going about 50 MPH. Then the proctor told me to turn right again. I hit another red light, so I stopped, checked if it didn't have a sign prohibiting turns on a red light, made sure it was safe to turn, and so I did. Then I realized we were back at the DMV. I was really confused but I thought maybe he would tell me to make a left past the DMV. He asked, "Did you know you ran a red light?" I practically sh** my pants! WTF! I was so taken aback, all I could say was, "No, I didn't," and he told me to turn back into the DMV. I had failed my license test. There goes all my plans that I wanted to make. For about 10 minutes, we just sat in the car in total silence, while he was writing down some stuff. Then he got out of the car and slammed the door. He left my permit and some notes in the car, so I took a look at what he had written down. He wrote that I drove on the left side of the road, that I almost got in a car accident, and that I ran a red light. I was shocked so I got out of the car and ran to my mom and started bawling like a baby. "I failed, I failed, I failed!" I showed my mom the broken piece of glass that the man had ripped off and my mom was furious! "What the fu**?" She stormed into the building, while I cried in the car, and she came out with another woman and was telling her what happened. My mom told me to get out of the car to explain what the man had said to me and so I told her. She brought my tester out and he said the piece of glass was dangling off, but I would have noticed if it was! Because there was nothing the woman could do about it, and I had failed my test, I have to wait another 2 weeks to take my test! I'm extremely nervous that I could get the same person or the same things will happen again! I was mostly disappointed in myself but hopefully next time I will pass!

Question of the Day: What was your driver's test experience like? Was it as bad as mine or worse?

XOXO - A
